Function:
Antioxidant function: DTBHQ contains two phenolic hydroxyl groups in the molecule. The hydrogen atoms on these two hydroxyl groups are highly active and can combine with free radicals generated by substances such as oils, rubbers, and plastics during oxidation. By giving out hydrogen atoms, free radicals are converted into relatively stable substances, thereby interrupting the free radical chain reaction and preventing the further development of the oxidation process, thus playing an antioxidant role.
Free radical capture function: DTBHQ can quickly capture free radicals in the system through its own molecular structure to form relatively stable semiquinone free radical intermediates. This intermediate can further react with other free radicals, or stabilize the free radicals through processes such as intramolecular electron transfer and rearrangement, thereby reducing the destructive effect of free radicals on substances and protecting materials or substances from oxidative damage.
Application:
Antioxidant for skin care products: Add to lotions, creams, essences and other skin care products to prevent the oxidation of oils, vitamins and other ingredients, maintain the stability and effectiveness of the products, and extend the shelf life of cosmetics.
Organic synthesis intermediates: In organic synthetic chemistry, DTBHQ can be used as an important intermediate to synthesize other organic compounds with special functions, such as for the preparation of new organic materials with antioxidant, antibacterial, photoelectric and other properties.
Improve rubber processing performance: During rubber processing, DTBHQ can inhibit the oxidation reaction of rubber in mixing, vulcanization and other processes, reduce the breakage and cross-linking of rubber molecular chains, make rubber processing smoother, and improve processing efficiency and product quality.
